Remembering Holiday

There is nothing depressing than go at work and drive in front of the swimming pool of my neighbour, where I spent some afternoons of my holiday.
Here a photo: The Swimming Pool … Sigh!

Busker Festival: Ferrara Street Performers Festival

August 27, 2007 · 4 Comments

Since 1996, every year, in Ferrara (Italy) there is Busker Festival, a street performers and musicians festival.
I have been last year and this year.
Ferrara Streets are full of people and great performers and musicians. I was surprised to see a lot of musicians who was there last year too.
Aren’t there other talent performers?
My impression was that they were there like a factory into a fair. And that they were searching for notoriety or only to sell theirs cds.
However I had fun because their art is so special and involving.
Some photos? No! Only this one:

David Grossman talks about peace in Rovereto

August 26, 2007 · No Comments

He is an Israeli novelist and he has written one of my favourite books “Be My Knife”, so on 24 August I went in Rovereto (TN – Italy) to listen him.

David Grossman is internationally known for its engagement in favor of the dialogue between Israelis and Palestinian and with this meeting he has been invited to close the review “Dolomiti di pace” (Dolomiti of peace).

For me, it was a deep and intensive conference full of feeling and concepts to elaborate.

Writing
He explained that he writes because he is sad and writing make him happy.
Writing allows him to invent new realities, create lives he could never live and understand other people. It is so that he thinks Israelis and Palestinians had to do: understand each other.

Children
He said he remember very well when he was a kid and it is for this that he can write novel for kids. He said that his books are written for children and they are to read at night, when you put your son at bed. The purpose of his books is to help children to grow and show how is life.

War
Israeli is a country without borders fixed and to live in a country like it is like live in an house without walls and you don’t know where is the end of your house and where is the beginning of yours neighbour. So, you and your neighbour have always the temptation to invade the other. And, you never feel yourselve safe.

Live
He said that Israelis and Palestinians live without living.
Every day, they try to survive at themselves, at that strange war.
They don’t know what is the real meaning of living. If just they stop to do war each other, they could stop to survive and know how is live.

At the end, this two people (Israelis and Palestinians) had to understand each other and feel inside them that life is better important than a piece of land, but their hearts are “ill” for much years and it seems impossible to happen. So, Grossman said that all of us had always to talk about peace and love and life and don’t let that feeling of violence be inside us.
He done it on 24 August…   in front of me. Thanks.
