Visit Witkin at Pac in Milan until 27th April 2008.
Witkin is born in Brooklin in 1939.
When he was only 6 years old, he saw a child’s head roll to his feet. This is a dramatic but lucid account and almost inspired. This experience taught him that with photography in some way he should have shown the death of another person.
His photographic career is dedicated to the meticoulous search for perfect images which are never simple photos, but actualsets, collages of elements aimed at constructing a meaning, which each time in the artist’s own feeling.

Creative Collective Artists of the Australian “The Glue Society” have realized four images, scenes from the book “The Bible” with a Google Earth view.
These four scenes are exhibited into Miami Art Fair.

Noah’s Ark

Moses Parting The Red Sea

The Crucifixion

The Garden of Eden
About the project, The Glue Society says:
“We like to disorientate audiences a little with all our work. And with this piece we felt technology now allows events which may or may not have happened to be visualized and made to appear dramatically real. As a method of representation, satellite photography is so trusted, it has been interesting to mess with that trust.”

Last sunday was my second time at ArteFiera (International Exhibition of Contemporary Art) in Bologna, Italy.
And this is the first post about one of the best artists I have known.
David Reimondo is a young italian artist from Genoa and his works are very original.
The works I saw are represented by toasted bread mosaic.
Every slice was toasted with a special “paint” and all bread slices compose an image.
In ArteFiera there was the burned bread slices showing the world map and the Apple keyboard.

I thought this is genius!
Then, I am testing this kind of art with my old toaster

3. The jury is still out on his civil war prediction. John plainly stated that the war would have its beginnings in 2004 – 2005 but would lead to a shooting war in 2008, the same date he told us we may have a woman president!

You don’t know the woman in this picture.
Her name is Veneranda Longhin and today, 16th december 2007, is the first anniversary of her death.
She didn’t know internet era, but I want her name is linked forever on the web throught this post.
This post talks about her.
A woman of strenght and elegant with the passion for dresses and fashion accessories, always impeccably dressed.
When I was a child I thought she was like an actress, Sofia Loren.
A woman with passion for yellow colour, flowers and plants, a good handmade embroidery worker, a woman that loved live.
Born in 1923, death in 2006.
Dear Grandma’,
during this year, it was difficult to live only with your remembrance but all your smiling photos give me a right way to live my days.
Goodbye again, I am glad to have spent 26 years with you.

Waiting for a David LaChapelle account in Flickr, I have discovered his MySpace Account and I have visited his show in Milan.
Into Palazzo Reale, until 6th January 2008, you can appreciate around 350 photos of this american photographer and director.
This kind of retrospective-exhibition is divided into parts about different themes: “Deluge”, “Awakeness”, “Heaven to hell”, “Meditation”, “Recollection in America”, “After Pop”, “Accumulation”, “Dream Evokes Surrealism”, “Destruction and Disasters”, “Violence as Entertainment”, “Plastic People”, “Consumption”, “Excess”, “Star System”.
The most of his work is composed by provocative photos about our consumer society and our fixations with material things and the decline of traditional values.
Into the exhibition you can find also music videos he has realized for famous performers as well as Gwen Stefani, Elthon John, Moby, Jennifer Lopez and commercial video (H&M).
I like this artist because he has a similar vision of society of mine and he reproduces it very well into his works. He has everything to be considered an artist like Dalì.
(Dalì, one of my favourite artist. In 2004 in Palazzo Grassi Venice, I saw a retrospective who celebrates the centenary of his birth. Masterpiece!)

Being a Gemini is very difficult. It means I am “dual-natured, elusive, complex and contradictory” (from Astrology Online)
Keep a few minutes thinking about the word “contradictory”.
Then, I am in trouble:
should I ask for Christmas my first LaCoste or should I continue my fight against consumerism thinking?
